Who We Are

Hillside Avenue Block Association (HABA) is a 501(c)(3) in the South Ward of Newark, NJ. HABA was created to provide assistance organizing residents of Hillside Avenue around public health, safety, and education to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood and promote community values to represent a united voice to advocate the shared interests of the neighborhood.

While HABA was officially founded in 2025, the work of community members joining efforts to collaborate and support each other has been the bedrock of the Hillside Avenue community for generations. HABA picks up the baton to continue this critical work to unite the neighborhood and spearhead community building through education, advocacy, and good ole’ fashioned fun!
